Until then, you can get your farming fix with one of the nicest men you could ever hope to meet at his farm in Roswell you might have driven right by and never known it was there!

Meet Farmer Billy: at the spry young age of 82, he puts on his overalls every day besides Sunday to keep his farm growing beautiful vegetables. Just off a busy road in Roswell, you might never imagine there’s a farm behind his house, though the sign announcing tomatoes for sale might tip you off a little.

10268608_791336240890115_1500391788232504601_nBilly is a Roswell native and can remember when the area was almost entirely farmland worked by mules and traversed by carriages. In fact, great farming artifacts can be seen all over his property including old plows, seeders, and more. Spending a day at Billy’s is like spending a day out of time, and certainly feels far from the bustle of the city.

10408684_812722945418111_7846387661926780999_nThis Labor Day, we’re helping coordinate an impromptu volunteer day at Billy’s farm just to help spruce up the place a bit. The following weekend on September 6th, the farm will be holding a book signing for Renea Winchester’s new book inspired by her time with Billy: Farming, Friends & Fried Bologna Sandwiches, so we’d love to help get the farm in tip-top shape for this exciting event.

If you’d like to come out to the farm on Labor Day to work a little, learn a little, and smile a lot, please contact Tracy Hoexter Who also happens to be the photographer behind these amazing photos) at to RSVP and let her know what time you plan to arrive, if you’re bringing the family, etc. We won’t be offering a meal, so bring a snack, but we do have something to help sway you if you’re on the fence…

He is so appreciative of your help. Remember, you are welcome at Billy’s anytime. Again, thank you very much.
