GROW at OU: Local Film, Local Food, Local Cause
If you’ve been to a mob and had a lovely lunch, it’s probably because our dear friend Amy has worked her magic and gotten an awesome farm-to-table restaurant to sponsor the meal. Amy has been with us since the second event and you’ll probably see her at most any mob you attend.
In addition to being a food procurement miracle worker, Amy is also the Controller at Oglethorpe University. In that role, she gets to take part in some awesome committees, one of which is the Oglethorpe University – Brookhaven Community Garden committee. The Community Garden provides produce to the Suthers Center for Christian Outreach which feeds over thirty needy families each month. Oglethorpe is working on some awesome building projects, one of which is a new Student Center. However, when the old student center is demolished, the Community Garden will have to be moved as it’s right in the line of fire.
To help aid in the cost of moving the garden and then getting it back to producing as soon as possible, Amy worked with the awesome filmmakers of GROW! in order to have a fundraiser screening of the film at Oglethorpe. The filmmakers, Anthony Masterson, will be introducing the film at 7 p.m. and then will be there for some Q&A after the film. However, be sure to come early, because starting at 6 p.m. Farm Burger and The Little Tart Bakeshop will be selling some tasty treats. The event is free, but it would be awesome for folks to make at least a $3 donation to the OU-Brookhaven Community Garden. Come on out and show your support for the Community Garden and enjoy a night of local food and local farmers!
