Kick off the summer with Crop Mob

It’s about that time: the mercury’s climbing, temperatures keep creeping up, and we’re gearing up to be a hot sweaty mess of happy farm volunteers. We’ve got some great stuff in store for you.

First, a quick recap of our great time at Sweet Selma Farm. This adorable urban farm hidden in College Park is owned by Jake of Jake’s ice cream (you can probably already guess where this is going…). We had a great day and perfect weather to plant fig trees, cut back some invasives, pick dewberries, start some seedlings, open up more garden space and more. It was a fantastic day and we were rewarded with a tremendous meal prepared by amazing Chef Jennifer and followed by – of course – some seriously delicious ice cream with dewberry and rose sauces from the property. YUM! It was a great time, and a big thanks to Jake for his generosity. We hope to go back someday.

Onto some exciting stuff…

Sorry for the pretty late notice, but we just ironed out the details. Our friend Lori has room for 8 lucky mobbers to come up to her place in Talking Rock, GA (a little over an hour north near Ellijay) to camp, play, swim, eat and help her get her place in shape before her move. Arrive at the farm around 11, bring a lunch, and then work and play until you return home the next day. Lori has kindly offered to provide dinner and breakfast as well as a great place to camp. There are also a few indoor beds/couches for the less outdoors inclined. Bring instruments for a campfire, bring swimsuits for a potential lake trip, and bring your awesome mobber spirit. More details and directions will be sent out to those who sign up. (Unfortunately, none of the mob bosses are able to make it out, so if someone with a few mobs under his or her belt would like to step in and lead the charge, let us know – we’d certainly appreciate it!)

Everyone knows Farmer Greg, and everyone loves Farmer Greg. That’s why we’re headed to his farm to help out and have some fun! Come on out to Barnesville on June 10th for a good ol’ fashioned mob. And, in typical mobber fashion, we’ll be enjoying an unbelievable farm-to-table meal prepared by Chef Jenn from Avalon Catering. And it. is. good. Can’t wait to see you all there!
