Come one, come all to our first Family Mob!

That’s right folks – you’ve asked for it, and now you’re getting it: a family mob. Bring your kids, your parents, whoever you’ve got (though we might want to leave the four-legged friends at home) – because we’re mobbing Atwood Community Gardens. The Atwood Community Gardens participates in the NEXT Step Youth Entrepreneurship program to help at-risk kids learn how to write business plans, coordinate special events, conduct S.T.E.M.-based investigative research and discovery activities, and engage in community service in the spirit of social entrepreneurism and career development within the urban agriculture industry. It’s a really great group Crop Mob is proud to be involved with, and we’re so glad they’ve given us an opportunity to have a family mob.

It’s also the perfect time to try a mob if you’ve been meaning to come to one! The more the merrier. We’ll be weeding, pulling ivy off of trees, mulching the lane, preparing the growing area for fall planting (about 1/2 acre), and perhaps installing vertical compost bins.  If they get the materials in time, we might be able to put in the picket fence for the children’s play area.  Other than that, it will be an enjoyable and easy day out in the garden with family or friends. Be sure to remember sunscreen, hats, gloves and water – esp. for the littler members of the group. We’re hoping to get a whole lot of folks involved in this one, so spread the word!

See you there!
