Sheik Burritos Mob Recap

The mini-mob at Sheik Burritos n Kabobs was a success. We came, we saw, we dug up rocks the size of small children and artifacts that had been buried for who-knows-how-long (doorknobs, tires, tiles, seashells, windshield wipers and more). We created the foundations for a stellar restaurant garden out of a forgotten chunk of land on Piedmont. We got to know some new mobbers. We ate some kickin’ Persian/Southwestern fusion burritos – and we all got to choose our favorite type, too! In short, we conquered – and it felt good.

In just a couple of hours, we began the long process of amending that inner-city soil into what will be a fertile bed of fresh ingredients. We created rows that Jahan, the owner and super cool mobber, will improve with some compost and a season or two of cover crop. We even helped create some preliminary ideas for a basic irrigation system to keep the crops happy and prevent them from being washed downhill in the rain.

It was fun to have a mob in the city, and allowed some people who haven’t been to a mob before to make it out. We even have some ideas for our August mob in the works (but we’ll let you know more about that as the details come together)! And – along with the company and the locations – we also had a luxury at the Sheik that mobbers rarely enjoy: SHADE!

So check back soon for info on our July mob – we can’t wait to see you all again at Indian Ridge Farm!

Stay cool out there!
